Great young golfers have come out of Mount Edgecombe
|

Country Club in the past. The Junior Academy is run by a team of competent teaching professionals. The programs are ten weeks long, held quarterly, during school terms. Anyone visiting the club on Sundays at midday, out of season, will no doubt be witness to the energy and excitement of 50 plus actively involved juniors all dressed in red academy golf shirts and caps. The academy is made up of three categories, namely the bogey, par and birdie groups.
The "Bogey Group" is a junior first timer needing basic skills training and golf understanding. This group is for kids of 6 years and up.
The "Par Group" is for juniors who are at a level of pre-handicapping and by the end of this program should start applying for a handicap and playing 18 holes.
The "Birdie Group" is for junior golfers who are handicapped and require fine tuning to their game.
With all three categories, while concentrating on the skills of golf, golf rules and etiquette are taught and emphasized.
